I really should be sleeping right now. It’s after 1 AM. My work shift starts at 7:30 AM. So much to say, so little time to say it.
Talked to my son tonight. He is doing well at the university, his (hopefully) senior year. Lots of internship and possible job opportunities. Golf tournaments with the university team (the kid can really play). He is coming home in a week to spend the weekend, playing in a golf tournament nearby. I am encouraged. He is doing well.
Work is outrageously good. After wasting 25 years with a company that seriously resisted acknowledging hard work and contribution, then 5 years with a stagnant company, I am working for a billion dollar company that is everything I hoped for. I am flourishing, being recognized, happy, anxious to work every day. Opportunities are opening up because I am being recognized.
Spent four days in Door County, Wisconsin last week. Loved it. Saw lots of lighthouses, beautiful lake(s), cheese, wine, food, sunflowers.
I have next week off. If my boss hadn’t reminded me, I would have kept working. I don’t take time off, so it feels strange to be taking time off. It will be a staycation — car repairs, dental work, bike riding.
I feel like a bike stud. Last week, I trashed a rear cassette while powering up the side of a steep berm. I literally broke the middle rings of the cassette. My shop is not only replacing the cassette, they are replacing the chain and chainring at no charge. When I bought my Salsa last year, I paid extra for a three year warranty. It pays for replacement of broken components. That warranty just paid for itself.
That was a quick recap. Here are a few pictures from the trip. I tried out a new used Canon EOS camera. It took good pictures!
